Report on the 2/18/06 Workshop

“How to Achieve Your Business Goals and Objectives
Through the Use of Six Sigma Basics”

48 people were in attendance at these workshops.  Chet Harmer, the workshop leader, used simple, but practical examples of how the Six Sigma methodology is being used and implemented by companies throughout the world.  He explained how this approach could be used by organizations both small and large.

During the workshop the following information was provided:

-an introduction to Six Sigma

-an introduction to the DMAIC

            D         Define
            M         Measure
            A         Analyze
            I           Improve
            C         Control

-an introduction to and application of 10 tools within the methodology that can be used with organizations of all sizes.

-discussion of how to apply these tools to “Real World” problems

-discussion of the next steps that could be taken to apply the tools to these problems.

36 out of the 48 attendees indicated that they would like to have experience applying the methodology to problems they are encountering in their businesses or jobs or other organizations.  It was decided to dedicate the next two month’s workshops to this purpose.  On 3/18/06 workshops will be held that focus on the “Define, Measure and Analyze” steps.  On 4/15/06 workshops will be held that focus on the remainder of “Analyze, then Improve and Control” steps.
