Report on the 9/16/06 Workshop

“How to Achieve Your Business Goals and Objectives Through the Use of Six Sigma Basics”

A total of 34 people were in attendance at this workshop.  The following information was discussed:

Six Sigma is an organized way to make businesses run better.  By “running better” we mean doing a better job of satisfying the needs of the customers of the business and at the same time making a greater profit.

During this workshop, Chet Harmer, the workshop leader, used simple but practical examples of how the Six Sigma methodology is being used and implemented by companies throughout the world.  The tolls within this approach can be used effectively by organizations both small and large.

During the next two months, Chet will provide the opportunity for teams to apply the Six Sigma principles and tools to an operational area that your organization needs to improve.

During this workshop Chet provided the following information:

            1.  An introduction to Six Sigma

            2.  An introduction to the DMAIC methodology that is used to implement it:

                        D         Define
                        M         Measure
                        A         Analyze
                        I           Improve
                        C         Control

            3.  An introduction to and application of the top ten tools with the methodology
                        that can be used with all types of organizations.

            4.  Identification of possible improvement projects within your business

            5.  The next steps you would take if you wanted to apply DMAIC to those projects
