Report on the 10/4, 10/11, 10/18 and 10/25/06 Workshops

“The Basics of Finding and Successfully
Competing for Good Jobs”

---A 4-Part Series---

A total of 110 people were in attendance at these workshops.  The topics were as follows:

10/4/06            “Six Weeks to Multiple Job Offers”
10/11               “How to Find Good Jobs”
10/18               “How to Develop Effective Resumes”
10/25               “How to Have an Effective Interview and Then Follow Up”

This was the first time that the “Six Weeks to Multiple Job Offers” workshop had been given in this area.  It covered the following topics:

            - Who to talk to, what to say, and how to organize your job search.
            - Your guide to networking in today’s job market.
            - What powerful benefit is in only 5% of resumes.
            - Who to talk to about your job search.
            - Exactly what to say to each person.
            - When to call/When not to call/How often to call.
            - How to organize your job search.
            - Two things you should never talk about when search for a job.
            - How to avoid internet depression (the phenomenon of applying for hundreds of jobs on line and never hearing back from anyone).
            - How to successfully use the internet in your job search (hint:  it isn’t applying for jobs on line).

The content of the other three workshops was the same as earlier in 2006  when it was taught in January,  April and July.   In each of the past series a total of about 75 people were in attendance.
